The Atlanta Falcons were recognized on May 8, 2017 for winning the 2016 Bud Light Good Sport Designated Driver Challenge against the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Representatives from the Falcons and TEAM Coalition gathered for the celebration.
The Bud Light Good Sport Designated Driver Challenge tracked the number of fans who pledged to be designated drivers at 2016 regular season home games for all three teams. Each fan who pledged to be a designated driver at the Georgia Dome in 2016 earned the Falcons 6 points – a touchdown – in the Challenge. Fans also had the opportunity to show support of their team’s responsibility efforts on social media to earn additional points. The Falcons finished with 96,048 points compared to the Panthers with 12,858 and the Buccaneers with 19,902.
The Falcons, Bud Light and Levy Restaurants have been working together successfully for the Bud Light Good Sport designated driver program for several seasons. This was their fifth consecutive win versus the Panthers and Buccaneers in the Challenge.
The Bud Light Good Sport designated driver program was just one component of the fan behavior initiatives offered at the Georgia Dome. Other components include:
- Promoting responsible fan conduct
- Certification of employees in effective alcohol management training
- Alcohol service policies including ID checks for all fans, no more than two alcoholic beverages per person per transaction and alcohol cut-off at the end of the third quarter
