ANDY’S MISSION MOMENT WITH TEAM COALITION

TEAM training was written by and for facility operations managers. Andy shared that being a TEAM Master Trainer has been “something I have tried to never take for granted. TEAM is such an amazing program and being able to spend two days with trainers from all over the country [at trainer workshops] collaborating on the best way to teach front line team members and share experiences is something no other program comes close to matching.”

TEAM not only drives proper alcohol service within our venues, but it does it by teaming up every department within the operation. That teamwork that starts with TEAM training resonates throughout the operation in many different ways making the experience for our guests all the better. The success of TEAM’s alcohol management training program rests squarely on the shoulders of facility leaders like Andy Konkle who have embraced the idea that everyone has a role and a responsibility when it comes to preventing negative fan behavior and drunk driving. Teamwork is what a successful alcohol management is all about. Andy’s efforts demonstrate that when everyone – including guest services, security, ushers, gate attendants, elevator operators, alcohol servers, suite attendants and the fans – takes responsibility, everyone wins.Jill Kiefer Executive Director TEAM Coalition

US DOT / NHTSA 2019 NATIONAL DATA:

  • In 2019, 10,142 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, a decrease of 5.3% from the 10,710 fatalities in 2018.
  • Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.
  • Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol and fail to buckle up.
