SADAF’S MISSION MOMENT WITH TEAM COALITION

The positive impacts that TEAM training has had on this industry are countless. However, what has stood out to me the most is the shift in perspective in the team members once they complete their certification. Their event day reports, for example, not only showcase that they are better able to understand fan behavior using terms taught to them in training, but also show a newfound confidence in their response to those behaviors as a result of the tools that training has armed them with. What this tells me is that TEAM training allows for a level of awareness that repeatedly shows itself as a better level of service in our venues.

TEAM training fosters a culture of responsibility in our industry, but it does so in a way that recognizes the importance of the fan experience in our individual venues. It allows you to embed this program into your own culture and your own service standards by providing a solid foundation and then letting you build upon it. That’s what makes it unique – TEAM does not compromise on good guest service, it enhances it.

The success of TEAM’s alcohol management training program rests squarely on the shoulders of facility leaders like Sadaf Usmani who have embraced the idea that everyone has a role and a responsibility when it comes to preventing negative fan behavior and drunk driving. Teamwork is what a successful alcohol management is all about. Sadaf’s efforts at MetLife Stadium demonstrate that when everyone – including guest services, security, ushers, gate attendants, elevator operators, alcohol servers, suite attendants and the fans – takes responsibility, everyone wins.Jill Kiefer
Executive Director
TEAM Coalition

US DOT / NHTSA 2019 NATIONAL DATA:

 • In 2019, 10,142 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, a decrease of 5.3% from the 10,710 fatalities in 2018.
 • Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.
 • Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol and fail to buckle up.
