JULIE’S MISSION MOMENT WITH TEAM COALITION

It took only one incident for our venue to know we made the best decision for our  guests, when TEAM was required for every person who interacts with our fans, not just alcohol servers.  On a Sunday day game, a  promotional employee hired by an outside vendor who worked limited games ran up to me saying, “I know I am suppose to know what to do because I went to a class but I’m  just not certain how to handle this one.  A man just came into the building and he is showing so many signs of impairment and he has two little kids with him!”  I said “you did know what to do, you got help!”  TEAM is just one of the customer services we offer to our fans.  The youngster’s parents were called and everyone got home safely!

TEAM is the foundation of all training within a venue.  While each discipline training will have a guest experience component, most sessions focus on job specific tasks, what an  individual must accomplish.  TEAM provides the same tools and information to everyone, no matter your position and demonstrates how when we work together we are stronger.  We can accomplish everyone’s goal, to provide a safe and entertaining visit for our guests.Julie Taylor

The success of TEAM’s alcohol management training program rests squarely on the shoulders of facility leaders like Julie Taylor who have embraced the idea that everyone has a role and a responsibility when it comes to preventing negative fan behavior and drunk driving. Teamwork is what a successful alcohol management is all about. Julie’s efforts at Guaranteed Rate Field demonstrate that when everyone – including guest services, security, ushers, gate attendants, elevator operators, alcohol servers, suite attendants and the fans – takes responsibility, everyone wins.Jill Kiefer

US DOT / NHTSA 2018 NATIONAL DATA:

  • In 2018, 10,511 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, an decrease of 3.6% from the 10,908 fatalities in 2017.
  • Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.
  • Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.
