Alexandria, VA (Feb. 3, 2011) – While football fans across the country anticipate the kick-off on February 6, 2011 of Super Bowl XLV, TEAM Coalition (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) and Hillard Heintze, a leading private strategic security advisory and management company, announced the eligibility of the winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes.
The two winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes for designated drivers – Joan McConnell, Designated Driver of the Season for the Steelers, and Drew Muhich, Designated Driver of the Season for the Packers – will be provided airfare to North Texas and two tickets each to watch their respective teams vie for the Super Bowl XLV championship at Cowboys Stadium. Additionally Barbara Owczarczak, the Designated Driver of the Season for the Buffalo Bills, and a companion enjoyed the 2011 Pro Bowl on January 30, 2011 in Honolulu, Hawaii at Aloha Stadium.
This season, a record number of fans – over 170,000 – pledged to be designated drivers during games at the thirty-one stadiums across the country.
“We are thrilled that this year, more NFL fans than ever before have chosen to make the roads safer by electing to be the designated driver for their friends and family,” said Jill Pepper, Executive Director of the TEAM Coalition. “This is a very strong sign that our message, ‘Fans don’t let fans drive drunk,’ is resonating with the public and – by extension – saving lives.”
TEAM Coalition is an alliance of professional and collegiate sports, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry, broadcasters, governmental traffic safety experts and others working together to promote responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at sports and entertainment facilities. TEAM Coalition members are united by a shared mission to provide effective alcohol service training in public assembly facilities and promote responsible alcohol consumption that enhances the entertainment experience while reducing alcohol-related instances both in facilities and on surrounding roadways.
The 2010 season marks the eighth year TEAM Coalition has paired with the NFL for the Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign. The Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign promotes traffic safety, positive fan behavior, responsible alcohol consumption and the designated driver program at sports and entertainment facilities. Partners in the campaign include NHTSA – the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, state offices of highway safety, professional and collegiate sports, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry and broadcasters.
“We are proud of our partnership with TEAM because this kind of campaign makes an enormous contribution to the security of NFL games,” said Arnette Heintze, co-founder and CEO of Hillard Heintze. “By rewarding fans who choose to be designated drivers, TEAM is making the games safer for everyone involved from the families attending the games to drivers on the roads near the stadium after the game ends.”
In addition to the Super Bowl, Hillard Heintze will partner with TEAM Coalition to provide similar background screening services for the Designated Drivers for the Season from sports teams who will compete in the NCAA®Men’s Final Four® and NCAA® Women’s Final Four® and Championship games in April 2011 and the 2011 NBA Finals® in June 2011. Hillard Heintze conducts the background checks for the winners using S2Verify and their advanced, revolutionary background screening technology and new search algorithm that uses advanced artificial intelligence software to quickly analyze millions of unique data sources.
