Responsible Race Fans Rewarded at Bristol Motor Speedway

08/18/2018

It was an exciting and responsible race weekend in advance of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. On August 16 and 17, 2018, 78 fans braved the elements and took the pledge to Hold True and Enjoy Miller Time Responsibly – a promise to never drive drunk and always have a safe ride home.

All of the participating fans had the opportunity to receive a free souvenir photo. The 44 photos taken have been shared 66 times via text forwarding and social media, an average of 1.5 views per photo.

We believe that with great beer comes great responsibility, and we’re thrilled to partner with Bristol Motor Speedway and TEAM Coalition to help promote responsibility at the track. For many legal drinking age fans, enjoying a beer on race day is part of the NASCAR experience, and we want to encourage fans to enjoy the race responsibly and plan ahead for a safe ride home from the track.Diane Wagner, Responsibility Commerce Manager, MillerCoors
The success of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign is a direct result of the commitment from our members and all the designated driver program partners, including the tracks, concessionaires, beer companies and beer distributors. Teamwork is what this campaign is all about. We are demonstrating that when everyone – including the fans – takes responsibility, everyone wins.Jill Pepper, Executive Director, TEAM Coalition

US DOT / NHTSA 2017 NATIONAL DATA:

• In 2017, 10,874 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, a decrease of 1.1% from the 10,996 fatalities in 2016.

• Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.

• Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.
