For the third consecutive year, TEAM Coalition attended the U in the Driver Seat (UDS) Symposium hosted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) on April 6 and 7, 2018 in Dallas, TX. The peer-to-peer program seeks to give college students the tools and information to educate their peers about the dangers of impaired driving. The message for the symposium was “Be the DUDE – Designated Unimpaired Driver Extraordinaire.”
At the conference, TEAM Coalition provided information about responsible drinking, designated driver programs and the partnership between TEAM and the NCAA. TEAM and TTI partnered for a video competition where the students had a week to prepare a video, prior to the conference, about traffic safety messaging and then post it on social media. The videos were judged by a panel of five judges who gave points for creativity, quality of the video, messaging and social media interaction. The students from the winning school each received a Virtual Reality headset, second place won Echo Dots and third place won Google Chromecasts.

Students also signed a responsibility wall pledging to “Be The DUDE”, which was a pledge to never drive impaired, always have a safe ride home and buckle up every trip, every time. They received a free souvenir photo after signing the pledge.
