TEAM Coalition and TTI partner for U in the Driver Seat Symposium

For the second year, TEAM Coalition attended a three-day symposium in Austin, TX for the U in the Driver Seat (UDS) Symposium hosted by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) from April 6 to April 8, 2017 . The peer-to-peer program seeks to give college students the tools and information to educate their peers about the dangers of impaired driving. The message for the symposium was “Be the DUDE – Designated Unimpaired Driver Extraordinaire.”

At the conference, TEAM Coalition provided information about responsible drinking, designated driver programs and the partnership between TEAM and the NCAA. TEAM also provided two contests at the conference. The first was a 24-hour social media contest that encouraged the students to work together with their leadership team and spread the message “Be the DUDE, Never Drive Impaired” on Twitter and Instagram by using their leadership team hashtag. Points were tallied for each post, tweet, like, video view, share, and comment that included the school hashtag. Over 5,700 Responsibility Hashtags were tallied at the end of the competition. The winning leadership team each received a Virtual Reality Headset.

The second contest TEAM held was a video contest that encouraged the students to make a 30-second video featuring the message, “Stepping Up in Tough Situations, Never Drive Impaired.” With seven universities submitting videos, TEAM and UDS Staff choose 2 winners, first place each received Virtual Reality Headsets and the runner-up each received Google Chromecast.
