It was an exciting and responsible NASCAR Championship race weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 16 and 17, 2019. Before the drivers started their engines for the Ford EcoBoost 300 on Saturday and the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday, a total of 544 fans took the Busch NA Responsibility Has Its Rewards pledge – a promise to never drive drunk and always have a safe ride home. The activation was a partnership between NASCAR, Anheuser-Busch, Eagle Brands and TEAM Coalition.
All of the participating fans had the opportunity to spin the virtual Busch NA prize wheel, autograph the responsibility wall and receive a free souvenir photo. A total of 366 photos were taken.
The Responsibility Has Its Rewards grand prize sweepstakes winner – Iris Brignoni Ortiz of Kissimmee, FL – attended the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup race. She and her guest, Rolando Ramos, received the grand prize of the sweepstakes including round trip airfare, three nights hotel accommodations and hot passes for the race weekend.
US DOT / NHTSA 2018 NATIONAL DATA:
- In 2018, 10,511 people were killed as a result of alcohol-related (BAC > 0.08) car crashes, an decrease of 3.6% from the 10,908 fatalities in 2017.
- Many, if not most of those lives would have been saved if people did not drive when they were impaired by alcohol or if they used sober, designated drivers or if they simply wore their seat belts.
- Statistics and research clearly show that 21-34 year old males are the demographic most likely to be involved in an automobile crash, drive when impaired by alcohol, and fail to buckle up.
