ALEXANDRIA, VA, October 27 – With the National and American League Champions determined, and the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants preparing to face off in the 2010 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series, the eligibility of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR) sweepstakes winners was confirmed today by TEAM Coalition (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) and Hillard Heintze, one of the leading private strategic security advisory and management companies in the United States.

These two grand prize winners will receive two tickets to a World Series game. Catherine Acosta from Daly City, California is the San Francisco Giants’ Designated Driver for the Season. In addition, Vicki Boggs from Waxahachie, Texas is the Texas Rangers’ Designated Driver for the Season.

With the support of S2Verify, the background screening industry’s new revolutionary technology, Hillard Heintze provided background checks for these winners to confirm their eligibility.

For the seventh consecutive season, TEAM Coalition and MLB have joined together in support of designated driver programs at all MLB stadiums. Fans who registered to be a designated driver pledged to not drink alcohol, drive their friends and family home safely and ensure that their passengers always buckled up. This year, MLB saw a 10-percent increase in designated drivers at MLB stadiums from 365,000 in 2009 to 400,000 in 2010. TEAM’s Responsibility Has Its Rewards promotion for designated drivers counted over 600,000 sports fans who pledged to be designated drivers at MLB, MLS, NFL and NBA games in 2009.

“We’re delighted with the success of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign. Season after season, we see more and more fans pledge to be designated drivers every year,” said Jill Pepper, Executive Director of the TEAM Coalition. “That means we’re making an impact. More fans are taking personal responsibility when it comes to preventing drunk driving, and taking the message of ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk’ to heart.”

Hillard Heintze will provide similar background screening services for TEAM Coalition when TEAM rewards the Designated Drivers for the Season from the sports teams who will compete in MLS Cup 2010 in November 2010, Super Bowl XLV® in February 2011, the NCAA® Men’s Final Four® and Women’s Final Four and Championship games in April 2011 and the 2010 NBA Finals® in June 2011.

TEAM Coalition is an alliance of professional and collegiate sports, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry, broadcasters, governmental traffic safety experts and others working together to promote responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at sports and entertainment facilities. TEAM Coalition members are united by a shared mission to provide effective alcohol service training in public assembly facilities and promote responsible alcohol consumption that enhances the entertainment experience while reducing alcohol-related instances both in facilities and on surrounding roadways.

The Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign promotes traffic safety, positive fan behavior, responsible alcohol consumption and the designated driver program at sports and entertainment facilities. Partners in the campaign include NHTSA – the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, state offices of highway safety, professional and collegiate sports, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry and broadcasters.

“We truly value our role in supporting TEAM Coalition’s mission and sweepstakes,” said Arnette Heintze, co-founder and CEO of Hillard Heintze. “TEAM’s work with stadium owners, security experts, the beverage industry, highway safety administrations and sports fans has a positive impact on the overall level of public safety. Our mutual goals are to improve the well-being of the fans, encourage responsible fan behavior and help strengthen and protect the reputations of the franchises, major stadiums and other program supporters. When we stand together like this, we can make a difference.”
