MLB 2019 Training and Responsible Fan Award Winners Announced

TEAM Coalition (Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management) proudly recognized this year’s training certification and responsible fan program award winners at the MLB Ballpark Operations meeting on November 13, 2019.

In 2019, nearly 50,000 employees became certified in the training program. The 10,000 employees of MLB ballparks that became TEAM-certified in 2019 – including ushers, ticket takers, guest services representatives and the employees of concessionaire companies – represented 21% of that total.

The 17 Clubs earning training awards in 2019 are:

  • Seattle Mariners
  • Texas Rangers
  • Washington Nationals

During the 2019 season 504,529 MLB fans pledged to always drink responsibly and have a safe ride plan. The Responsible Fans for the Season from the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals attended the 2019 World Series Games 1 and 3, respectively, as the grand prize winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes.

The Responsible Fan for the Season for the New York Mets was randomly selected as the first prize winner of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. That winner will attend the 2020 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium on July 14, 2020.

The top five MLB Clubs for responsible fans in 2019 are:

  • St. Louis Cardinals: 69,483 responsible fans
  • Milwaukee Brewers: 38,831 responsible fans
  • Los Angeles Dodgers: 31,324 responsible fans
  • Minnesota Twins: 28,086 responsible fans
  • San Diego Padres: 27,335 responsible fans
