ALEXANDRIA, VA, January 31 – While football fans everywhere focus their attention on Super Bowl XLVIII® on February 2, 2014, Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition and Hillard Heintze, a leading private strategic security advisory and management company, announced the eligibility of the winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR) sweepstakes for Designated Drivers.

Coleen Peppin, the Chicago Bears Designated Driver for the Season, flew to Honolulu, Hawaii to enjoy the 2014 Pro Bowl® and cheer on Alshon Jeffrey, Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall, the Bears Pro Bowl selections for 2014.

The two grand prize winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes – Karin Cambria, Designated Driver of the Season for the Denver Broncos, and Luke Johnson, Designated Driver of the Season for the Seattle Seahawks – will be provided airfare to New York and two tickets each to watch their respective teams play in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium.

RHIR is in its eleventh season with the NFL and all thirty two teams offer fans a designated driver program at their facilities. Fans who pledge to be designated drivers must be over the age of twenty-one, promise not to drink alcohol at the game and provide safe transportation home for their friends and family. That pledge to be responsible is also an entry into the sweepstakes. At the end of the regular season, each team selected a Designated Driver for the Season. The Designated Drivers for the Season representing the two teams competing in Super Bowl XLVIII receive the trip to Super Bowl. Peppin – the Pro Bowl trip winner – was randomly selected from the remaining Designated Drivers for the Season representing NFL teams that did not qualify for the postseason.

This season, a record number of fans – more than 250,000 – pledged to be designated drivers during games at all thirty two stadiums across the country, a three percent increase over last season’s 240,000 designated drivers.

“More and more NFL fans are helping make our roads safer by choosing to be the designated driver for their friends and family,” said Jill Pepper, executive director of TEAM Coalition. “This tells me that our message, ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk,’ is helping raise public awareness and – by extension – saving lives.”

TEAM Coalition members are united by a shared mission to enhance the entertainment experience, provide effective alcohol management training in public assembly facilities and promote responsible alcohol consumption through the use of positive messages that reward responsible behavior and help to reduce negative alcohol-related incidents both in facilities and on surrounding roadways, recognizing that the vast majority of fans are responsible.

“NFL and TEAM Coalition are doing a terrific job,” said Arnette Heintze, CEO of Hillard Heintze, “and we are thrilled to be partnering with them. We are deeply committed to keeping fans and their families – and other people on our roads safe.” Hillard Heintze conducts the background checks for the winners using the advanced technology and services of S2Verify, LLC, one of the fastest growing companies in the employee screening market and the leading screening industry process innovator.

In addition to the Super Bowl, Hillard Heintze will partner with TEAM Coalition to provide similar background screening services for fans who pledge to be responsible and therefore become entered to win a trip to collegiate and professional sporting events including the NCAA® Men’s Final Four®, the NCAA® Women’s Final Four® in April 2014 and the NBA Finals® in June 2014.
