Alexandria, VA (1/25/2013) – While football fans everywhere focus their attention on the 2013 Pro Bowl on January 27, 2013 and Super Bowl XLVII on February 3, 2013, Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition and Hillard Heintze, a leading private strategic security advisory and management company, announced the eligibility of the winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR) sweepstakes for Designated Drivers.Judy Uhl, the Pittsburgh Steelers Designated Driver for the Season, is on her way to Honolulu, HI to enjoy the Pro Bowl and cheer on Heath Miller and Maurkice Pouncey, the Steelers Pro Bowl selections for 2013.

The two grand prize winners of the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes – Roger Acker, Designated Driver for the Season for the Baltimore Ravens, and Jan Spielberger, Designated Driver for the Season for the San Francisco 49ers – will be provided airfare to New Orleans, LA and two tickets each to watch their respective teams play in Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

RHIR is in its tenth season with the NFL and all thirty two teams offering fans a designated driver program at their stadiums. Fans who pledge to be designated drivers must be over the age of twenty one, promise not to drink alcohol at the game and provide safe transportation home for their friends and family. That pledge to be responsible is also an entry into the sweepstakes. At the end of the regular season, each team selected a Designated Driver for the Season – a finalist in the Responsibility Has Its Rewards sweepstakes. The Designated Drivers for the Season representing the two teams competing in Super Bowl XLVII receive the trip to Super Bowl. Ms. Uhl – the Pro Bowl trip winner – was randomly selected from the remaining Designated Drivers for the Season representing NFL teams that did not qualify for the postseason.

This season, a record number of fans – over 240,000 – pledged to be designated drivers during games at thirty one stadiums across the country, a nine percent increase over last season’s 220,000 designated drivers.

“More and more NFL fans are helping make our roads safer by choosing to be the designated driver for their friends and family,” said Jill Pepper, Executive Director of the TEAM Coalition. “This tells me that our message, ‘Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk,’ is helping raise public awareness and – by extension – saving lives.”

TEAM Coalition members are united by a shared mission to enhance the entertainment experience, provide effective alcohol management training in public assembly facilities and promote responsible alcohol consumption through the use of positive messages that reward responsible behavior and help to reduce negative alcohol-related incidents both in facilities and on surrounding roadways, recognizing that the vast majority of fans are responsible.

“The NFL and TEAM Coalition are doing a terrific job,” said Arnette Heintze, CEO of Hillard Heintze, “and we are thrilled to provide our service to TEAM Coalition. We are deeply committed to keeping fans and their families – and other people on our roads safe.” Hillard Heintze conducts the background checks for the winners using the advanced technology and services of S2Verify, LLC, one of the fastest growing companies in the employee screening market and the leading screening industry process innovator.

In addition to the Super Bowl, Hillard Heintze will partner with TEAM Coalition to provide similar background screening services for fans who pledge to be responsible and therefore become entered to win a trip to collegiate and professional sporting events including the NCAA® Men’s Final Four®, the NCAA® Women’s Final Four® in April 2013 and the 2013 NBA Finals® in June 2013.
